Fishing huts on the lake in various places cluster in small villages or can be seen as more distant solitary retreats. They are pulled by snowmobiles across the snow and ice to rest where augers create fishing holes inviting local fish to dinners.
It is fascinating to see these tiny ‘day cottages’ of winter. I imagine that they could be that as well while perched on land by this or another body of water. Perhaps, they might become a writer’s retreat or a painter’s personal paradise of creativity?
Doors, windows, chimneys, sidings, and roofs on these structures all have their own ‘personality’, whether modern, rustic, plain or decorated, charmingly quaint or just ‘slapped together‘.
Walking by them at the bottom of the hill here as they wait to be moved onto the lake or away, I have had quick glimpses of their indoor furniture and conveniences as I passed by the parking lot. Some have curtains for privacy which add a homey touch, too.
It occurs to me that these huts could well serve as ‘garden rooms’ or sheds in summer, or as hunter ‘camps’ in the bush during autumn. Possibilities of usefulness…
