Symbols and Meanings

Symbols and Meanings

Perhaps I’ve been talking to busy bees and butterflies or to a wall of indifferent stones, even to a pile of sharp rocks ready to be thrown, so l will share my thoughts with the friendly cat at my door looking for a treat to chew on.

This is what l will share-

Man creates Symbols and gives them Meanings. Some Symbols can Mean several things.

A Single Eye can Mean Enlightenment of Soul, Mind and Body aligned as one in Union with God, the Prime Source of Life, in Cosmic Consciousness. It can also Mean Surveillance and Investigation. ‘Big Brother is Watching You’. It can Mean Psychic Abilities and Perceptions or just an Artistic Fashion Trend having no special Meaning at all.

Colours in Symbolism can hold many meanings too. White, the Union and actual Inclusion of All Colours can also Mean White Supremacy Beliefs with claims of Purity and Power through Racial Genetics, White Skin (well Albinos are actually More White) and Particular Exclusive Religious Affiliations.

Such things as Black and White Pieces on Chessboards can Symbolize Good and Evil seen differently from opposite sides of the Board, especially seen from opposing viewpoints in different Races, different Cultures, different Nations, in different Religious and Political Ideologies or Values and Ambitions. Chessboard Games can Symbolize Power and Conquest through War as Political, Military, Religious Warfare where many Suffer and many Die in misery. Chessboards can also Mean Fun and Harmless Entertainments for Adults and Children, win or lose.

Black and White Checkerboard Floors can Symbolize Power over Life and Death, Intelligence and Force used to Conquer and Defeat Enemies or any in the way of Ambitions. They can Mean Allegiance to particular Beliefs and Groups or merely appear as popular Fashion Trends.

Lines and Shapes can hold varied Symbolic Meanings. The Christian Cross can Mean Faith in Resurrection and Eternal Life for some, as did the Ankh in Ancient Egypt. To others, the Cross is a Symbol of torturous Suffering, the Cruelties and Indifference to Suffering, the Inhumanity and Insanity of Man ‘justified’. The Star of David, also called Solomon’s Seal, and the Crescent Moon can Symbolize Faith in Divine Guidance, Divine Right to Power and Exclusive Privileges of the Chosen, Divine Favouritism. For some, the various Crosses, the Geometric Stars, the Crescent Moons and the Scriptural Gods of the Ancients (such as the Elohim, being plural), including the many Gods of other Religions such as with Blue Skins or Snake Bodies and with Flying Machines (Vimanas in India and Dragons in China) depicted as being used in Wars, can also Mean Extra Terrestrial involvement in the creation and guidance of Human Religions on Earth by those ‘not of this World’. These Symbols Mean different things seen from different perspectives static or evolving.

Such things as Rainbows can Mean Hope of Divine Mercy after devastating Natural or Supernatural Events, Promises of Divine Protection from the Wrath of God, a Vengeful Deity. Rainbows can also Mean the Freedom to Love other Humans, regardless of Gender, without Judgment and Condemnation by any God, the Freedom to be themselves regardless of Religious Taboos, inherited Religious Instructions for Required and Acceptable Behaviours. Rainbows can simply be Symbols of Nature’s Wonders and Beauty, a Painter’s Palette, a Colourful Imagination, a Symbol of Childhood Joy.

Symbols can have many, even opposite Meanings, for Humans both collectively and individually as in Dreams.

Symbols are the Shorthand, the Abbreviated Communications that either clarify or mystify like the Layered Languages of Poets, Writers and Storytellers everywhere throughout the Ages.

Now, about that treat…
