The World of Make-Believe

We live in a World of Make-Believe-

Cultural Stories, Ancient and Modern Myths

about God, about Life, about Ourselves-

our Genesis Creation Stories handed down-

like the Myth of Original Sin, the Garden of Eden,

the shame and blame of Women,

the trusting innocence of Men-

like the Modern Myth of Santa Claus,

Flying Reindeer and Christmas Elves

making Gifts for Good (Obedient) Girls and Boys-

a Consumer Society Dream made ‘real’-

made ‘real’ for many Young Minds

soon to learn it’s all Make-Believe.

We now take to the Stars, the Moon and Mars

the Primitive Myths of Mankind-

Names from Humanity’s Childhood…

We carry with us our Cultural Stories-

our Once Imagined Explanations of Life

made Sacred Traditions through Repetitions,

Memorizations, Enactments of the Young.-

Thus, we create our Realities through Beliefs.

We carry that Heavy Bag of our Past

with its countless conflicts, countless Griefs

into New Worlds of our Make-Beliefs.

Hearts With Wings

Hearts With Wings

Hearts With Wings, my Sister called them,

not the common name, Bleeding Hearts,

a name so scorned by those whose Hearts

are deadened by indifference, hate, jealousy,

lacking sympathy or empathy for others

whose Hearts are grieving loss or that of others…

My Sister has a Heart With Wings-

a Heart filled with compassion, kindness

and selfless caring- that love in action

of swift response to another’s need-

to others’ pleads for help by word or act

with effective skills and knowledge

grown wiser through understanding.

In times of challenge, Hearts and Minds rise or fall.

Such times are these and challenge all.

May everyone on this dear Earth lift up

Life here and raise their Hearts With Wings.

Mother and Child

Mother and Child

My Mother was my kind and loving Friend

and I, her welcomed, prayed for Godsend.

Every Soul chooses parents and perfect conditions

for advancing its Spiritual Evolution

whether love, indifference or hostility

greets its birth on our planet, Earth.

Every Baby understands the language of touch.

It knows how much it’s cared for

when it feeds, when its needs are met,

or not, yet ever reaches out for Love,

the feelings and frequencies of Love,

the divine presence and comfort of Love.

Barbaric Practices

When will we leap in our evolution?

When will we finally be free

of ancient, barbaric practices

throughout the suffering history

of our species, our evolving humanity.

We are the most savage, most brutal of animals

in our human sacrifices called war.

We weaponize modern technologies

and practice barbarism as long before,

claiming commands of an Ancient God we adore

or the right of the people in power.

We ritualize barbaric, ancient practices-

child brides, child rapes, child slavery-

circumcision- male and female genital surgery-

a rite demanded by a primitive god

claiming to be a Holy, Loving God.

We’ve pierced our skin with heavy weights,

stretched our necks, our skulls, our ears-

tortured our bodies in so many ways.

Some still do, as before in ancient days.

Some torture and kill without conscience,

justifying as Religion, Politics, Science,

horrors, punishments, experiments

on humans and all living things.

When will we leap in our evolution?

When will we finally be free?
